Over the years, we’ve honed and adapted the way we work to create a robust book design and print process. Although every project is different the process outlined below will give you a good idea of what’s involved from the initial meeting through to print production.

01

Enquiry

The book design process begins with an initial conversation between us and you. This first stage is really about getting to know each other, understanding your needs and establishing what your project will entail. It’s at this stage we discuss price, and timelines.

02

Discovery

Once the formalities are out of the way, it’s time to get into the details. Whether through email, over the phone, via video chat or in person, we start discussing your ideas, preferred style, and guidance as to what you like and don’t like.

03

Ideas

It’s at the stage we start to generate concept layouts that incorporate the things discussed during the initial consultation. These concepts will give you an indication as to page layout, text formatting and colour palette. We normally send a few different design options for you to consider and chose from.

04

Refinement

The design process begins with an initial conversation between us and you. This first stage is really about getting to know each other, understanding your needs and establishing what your project will entail. It’s at this stage we discuss price, timelines and deliverables, Once costs have been agreed and a deposit has been paid work can begin.

05

Formatting

Once a design style is finalised we create a proof of the full book for review. This can take the form of printed or digital proofs or even a “dummy” hard copy if necessary. It’s at this stage that a proofreader, the author and the production team check the design and make any corrections.

06

Publication

If you want to print your book we specialise in advising on the best paper weight, colour and finish to make the most of the design. Turnaround times for printing will be unique to your book and the specifications you choose. If you are publishing your book digitally we can advise on which format is most suitable format for you.
